The Pocket TDS Meter is a great tool for calculating the effectiveness of your Aqua Tek Ro system by measuring the total dissolved solids (TDS) content of your water both before and after the RO system. You can also use these readings to tell you when the RO membrane needs to be changed.
Here's how to use your TDS meter to successfully test your RO system:
Use two clean cups, fill one cup with filtered water from your RO system and the other cup with tap water. First, place the TDS meter in the cup with the filtered water and record the reading. Then, place the TDS meter into the cup with tap water and record the reading. Now, compare the two readings.
The filtered water's TDS reading should be within 3-10% of your tap water's TDS reading. This is a normal range. You should test your water once or twice a year to monitor your RO membrane condition. When your filtered water's TDS readings increase to 15-20% of your tap water's TDS reading, then it is time to replace your RO membrane.
